Food Cannon Challenge is the site's projectile game, and it is deliberately not a game about reflexes. The trajectory of your shot is drawn on screen before you fire — twenty-six dots along the exact parabola the projectile will follow. Nothing about the arc is hidden.

What is hidden is where the target will be when the shot arrives. Food targets drift at up to 60 units per second in each axis, scaled by intensity, bouncing off the field boundaries. Leading a moving target across a two-second flight time is the actual skill, and the visible arc is what makes that skill learnable rather than guesswork.

The ammo economy turns accuracy into longevity. You start with 22 shots. Every third consecutive hit refunds one, and every hit adds 1.5 seconds to the clock. A player hitting two thirds of their shots can sustain a run almost indefinitely; a player spraying will be empty in ninety seconds.

How to Play Food Cannon Challenge

  1. Drag or swipe from the cannon to aim. Distance from the cannon sets the power; release to fire.
  2. On keyboard, use ← → to adjust the angle and ↑ ↓ for power, then press Space.
  3. The dotted line shows exactly where the shot will travel.
  4. Hit food targets to score. Every third consecutive hit refunds a shot and every hit adds 1.5 seconds.
  5. Hitting a hazard costs 80 points and breaks your streak.
  6. A shot that lands without hitting anything counts as a miss and ends the streak.
  7. The run ends when the timer expires or when you are out of ammo with no shots in flight.

Collection mechanics

Targets are drawn from the prepared meal and dessert pools — pizza, burgers, sandwiches, sushi, cake, donuts and similar — at tier 2 and tier 3, worth 25 and 50 points respectively at your combo multiplier.

Up to nine targets are on the field at once, spawning every 0.6 to 1.6 seconds depending on intensity. Each drifts with its own velocity and rotation, and bounces off the field edges rather than wrapping.

Roughly 14% of spawns are hazards — bombs, burnt food and chillies — rising with intensity to a cap of 40%. They look and behave like targets but cost 80 points and your streak if hit.

Obstacles and hazards

The hazards here are not obstacles in the usual sense — they do not threaten you, they punish a careless shot. That is an important distinction, because it means the game has no reflex component at all. Nothing on this field can reach the cannon.

The real constraint is the ammo counter combined with the clock. Seventy-five seconds and 22 shots is roughly one shot every three and a half seconds; the refund and time-bonus mechanics extend that only if you are accurate.

Targets bounce off the field boundaries rather than leaving, so the field fills up over time if you are not clearing it. A crowded field is easier to hit but also more likely to contain a hazard in your line.

Power-ups in this game

Meal MultiplierDoubles the value of everything you collect for 8 seconds.

How scoring works

Food targets pay their tier value at your combo multiplier. Every sixth consecutive hit pays a 300-point streak bonus. Hazards cost 80 points and reset the streak.

The compounding effects are what make a clean run so much better than a messy one: consecutive hits refund ammo (every third), add time (every hit), pay a streak bonus (every sixth) and build the combo multiplier that scales all of it.

Your best streak is tracked alongside your score, and is arguably the more meaningful record in this game.

The combo system in Food Cannon Challenge

Standard combo thresholds apply to hits. A missed shot breaks the chain, so the combo and the hit streak move together — though the streak is stricter, since a hazard hit breaks the streak while still counting as a shot.

The chain multiplier applies to target values and streak bonuses alike, so a long accurate run compounds quickly.

The Meal Multiplier is the only power-up in this game, and it is worth firing conservatively for eight seconds to make the most of.

Difficulty settings

Food Cannon Challenge defaults to Medium. Difficulty changes how fast targets drift, how frequently they spawn and the hazard proportion. Ammo count, muzzle speed, gravity and the clock are the same at every setting.

How each difficulty preset changes Food Cannon Challenge
Easy82% speed, 20% fewer spawns, 35% fewer hazards, 4 lives, 90-second ramp and a 25% larger pickup radius.
MediumThe intended balance: full speed, standard hazard density, 3 lives, 70-second ramp.
Hard118% speed, 40% more hazards, 2 lives and a 52-second ramp.
Expert135% speed, 80% more hazards, a single life and a 38-second ramp — maximum pressure from the first second.

Tips for a higher score

  • Lead moving targets. The trajectory preview shows where the shot goes, not where the target will be when it arrives.
  • Shoot the nearest cluster, not the most valuable target. Accuracy compounds through ammo refunds, time bonuses and streak bonuses.
  • Watch for hazards drifting into your line after you commit. A shot fired at a clear target can still hit a bomb that wandered in.
  • The power gauge below the cannon turns red above 80%. Maximum power flattens the arc, which is worse for distant targets than a mid-power lob.
  • Every third consecutive hit refunds a shot. At 66% accuracy your ammo is effectively stable.
  • Do not panic-fire when the clock is low. Hits add 1.5 seconds each; misses add nothing and cost a shot.

Features

  • Live trajectory preview so the arc is learnable
  • Every third consecutive hit refunds a shot
  • Hits add time; the run ends on the clock or on empty ammo
  • Ammo shown as physical shells along the bottom of the field

Frequently Asked Questions

How does aiming work in Food Cannon Challenge?

Drag from the cannon: the direction sets the angle and the distance sets the power. A dotted line shows the exact trajectory the shot will follow. Release to fire, or use the arrow keys and Space on a keyboard.

How do I get more ammo?

Every third consecutive hit refunds one shot. There is no other source, so sustained accuracy is the only way to extend a run.

What happens if I hit a hazard?

You lose 80 points and your hit streak resets. Hazards cannot hurt you directly — nothing on the field can reach the cannon.

Why does the trajectory preview not guarantee a hit?

Because it shows where the projectile will travel, not where the target will be when it arrives. Targets drift, so leading them is the actual skill.

How does the run end?

Either the 75-second clock expires, or you run out of ammo with no shots still in flight. Every hit adds 1.5 seconds, so accuracy extends both limits.

Is maximum power always best?

No. High power flattens the arc, which makes distant targets harder to reach. A mid-power lob is often the better shot.
