Food Tunnel is a flight game with a squeeze. The corridor's gap shrinks by 2.6 units every second of the run, up to a maximum of 70 units, and nothing stops that except golden widener tokens which each push it back by 34.

Those tokens appear every 900 units of distance, always placed on the safe line through the last gate so they are reachable if you are flying well. Collecting one is worth 220 points and buys back roughly thirteen seconds of squeeze. Missing one means flying a corridor that will be a third narrower by the time the next appears.

The result is a run with a real arc. The first minute is comfortable; the third depends entirely on how many wideners you have collected. There is a hard floor of 96 units on the gap, so the tunnel never becomes literally impassable — but at 96 units against a 44-unit rocket, it is close.

How to Play Food Tunnel

  1. Hold Space, ↑ or W to climb. Release to descend.
  2. On touch screens, tap and hold anywhere on the play area.
  3. Fly through the gap in each gate. Passing one pays 35 points at your multiplier.
  4. Collect the golden star wideners — each pushes the corridor 34 units back open.
  5. Watch the tunnel width meter bottom-left.
  6. Collect ingredients and meals along the safe line for score and combo.
  7. Hitting a wall costs a life and resets your chain.

Collection mechanics

The food pool combines raw ingredients and prepared meals, placed as a three-item trail through the centre of every gate gap. As in Rocket Food Run, flying the food is flying the gate correctly.

Golden star wideners are the exception: they spawn 180 units beyond the screen edge at the vertical position of the most recent gate's gap centre, which means they are on the line you would fly anyway if you are flying well. Poor line-flying is what makes them hard to reach.

About 18% of gates also spawn an optional arc beyond the gap. In this game those are a genuine gamble, because deviating from the safe line while the corridor is narrow is how most runs end.

What you collect

Widener token (220 pts)Pushes the corridor 34 units back open. The most important item in the game.

Prepared meals (25 pts)Tier-2, also on the safe line.
Cheese (25 pts)Tier-2.

Kitchen ShieldAbsorbs one wall collision.
Meal MultiplierDoubles collection value for eight seconds.

Obstacles and hazards

The corridor itself is the obstacle. Gates start with gaps between 135 and 240 units and narrow as intensity rises, then narrow further with the squeeze. Gate spacing starts at 300 units and tightens by up to 18%.

As everywhere on the site, the vertical shift between consecutive gates is capped so every gate is reachable from the last. That cap does not change as the corridor narrows, which means a tight tunnel is demanding but never geometrically impossible.

There is no floor hazard here — hitting the bottom of the screen simply bounces you. The walls are the only thing that costs a life, which keeps the game about the corridor rather than about altitude management.

Power-ups in this game

Food MagnetPulls nearby food toward you for 7 seconds within a 190-unit radius.
Meal MultiplierDoubles the value of everything you collect for 8 seconds.
Kitchen ShieldAbsorbs exactly one collision, then disappears. Lasts up to 12 seconds.

How scoring works

Passing a gate pays 35 at your multiplier. Food pays its tier value. Widener tokens pay 220, multiplied, on top of the squeeze they remove.

Because wideners are the only way to extend a run, their effective value is far higher than 220 — collecting one might buy another twenty gates, worth 700 in gate bonuses alone.

That makes the scoring economy unusually clean: the highest-scoring play and the longest-surviving play are exactly the same play.

The combo system in Food Tunnel

Standard thresholds and a 3.2-second window. The three-item trail through each gate gap, at 300-unit spacing, feeds the chain naturally if you are flying the line.

As in Rocket Food Run, the chain is a decent proxy for flight quality. A dropped chain usually means you flew a gate off-centre.

The Food Magnet is the strongest power-up here because it collects the trail without requiring the precision that a narrow corridor makes difficult.

Difficulty settings

Food Tunnel defaults to Hard. Difficulty changes scroll speed, base gap size, ramp length and lives. The squeeze rate and widener value are identical at every setting.

How each difficulty preset changes Food Tunnel
Easy82% speed, 20% fewer spawns, 35% fewer hazards, 4 lives, 90-second ramp and a 25% larger pickup radius.
MediumThe intended balance: full speed, standard hazard density, 3 lives, 70-second ramp.
Hard118% speed, 40% more hazards, 2 lives and a 52-second ramp.
Expert135% speed, 80% more hazards, a single life and a 38-second ramp — maximum pressure from the first second.

Tips for a higher score

  • Wideners are the run. Everything else is secondary — never skip one to collect an optional arc.
  • Fly the centre line. Wideners spawn at the last gate's gap centre, so good line-flying puts you on them automatically.
  • Short thrust taps beat long holds. In a narrow corridor, fine control matters more than climb rate.
  • Skip the optional arcs once the width meter is below half. Deviating from the line is how narrow-corridor runs end.
  • The Kitchen Shield is worth holding for a narrow stretch rather than spending immediately.
  • The gap has a hard floor of 96 units. When the meter is empty the tunnel is brutal but still passable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the tunnel narrow in Food Tunnel?

A squeeze value that rises by 2.6 units every second up to a maximum of 70. It is subtracted from every gate's gap, so the whole corridor tightens as the run goes on.

How do I widen the tunnel again?

Collect golden star widener tokens. Each pushes the squeeze back by 34 units and pays 220 points. They appear every 900 units of distance, always on the safe line through the last gate.

Can the tunnel become impassable?

No. The gap has a hard floor of 96 units, which is more than twice the rocket's height. It gets brutal, but it never becomes geometrically impossible.

Does hitting the floor cost a life?

No. The floor bounces you. Only the gate walls cost a life, which keeps the game focused on the corridor.

Should I collect the optional arcs?

Only while the width meter is comfortable. Once the corridor is narrow, deviating from the centre line is the most common cause of a crash.

What is the best power-up in Food Tunnel?

The Food Magnet, because it collects the safe-line trail without requiring the flying precision that a narrow corridor makes difficult.
